6 Essential Changes to Facebook Pages You Need to Know

When it comes to technology, there is never a day goes by that something new isn’t discovered, designed, or launched. The digital world is constantly evolving and growing. This is both exciting and frustrating. Just when you think you have something figure out… it changes.

This is the feeling many business owners have when it comes to designing, maintaining, and growing your business Facebook page. Especially in the past year as Facebook has continued to evolve into Meta and continually roll out changes to the Pages platforms on the social media network. Here are the 5 main things you should know about the new and evolving Facebook Business Pages platform:

1. Meta Business Suite

When Facebook announced in October 2021 that the company was changing it’s name to Meta, they said that the new name reflected that the company was more than just the social media platform. While still called Facebook, the Meta Business Suite was created. This is a free tool that centralizes Facebook, Instagram, and messaging tools in one place so you can save time, create connections with more people, and get better business results.

In the Meta Business Suite You can schedule posts on both Facebook and Instagram. You can monitor inbox messages from both social media networks, you can manage ads and page settings, and you’ll find helpful insights to optimize your efforts.

2. Updated Management Tools and Admin Controls

Along with moving the management tools for your Facebook page to the Meta Business Suite, Facebook has also revamped the management tools and admin controls for Pages that make it easier to navigate and manage your Page. You can now conveniently find the management tools to the left hand column of your screen, which makes them easier to locate and all categories are easily identifiable.

It is also now simpler than ever to assign roles to Page admins you trust. You can give admins partial or full access to your Page, depending on who need access and how much. Page admin assignments are now based on task rather than general roles. That way, you can easily select what your team members are allowed to do from inside your Page. Whether you need someone to run ads, post content, or review insights, you can give that person only the permissions they need to get their tasks done.

3. Phasing Out Likes in Favor of Followers

Meta has a plan to begin removing Likes from Pages and placing the emphasis on Followers. Followers are the people who truly connect with your content, they get your updates in their News Feed and reply to your posts. On the other hand, Likes don’t guarantee your content shows up on News Feeds, which does not boost potential engagement. By focusing on Follower count instead, Facebook is helping businesses recognize their active audiences.

4. Customizable Call-to-Action Button

All pages now have a prominent call-to-action button that is fully customizable. Some of the options available to you are: contact us, learn more, send email, and much more. Whatever you choose, you can customize the link this is connected to – and you can change it as needed.

5. New Cover Photo Size

The old Facebook cover size was 851px X 315px while the new cover photo size is 820px X 360px. While this isn’t significant, this means that the width of the cover photos has slightly increased. If you need to convert an older cover photo to accommodate the new size, Webster Digital Marketing can help you do that! Along with the change in cover photo sizing, Facebook has also added the ability to add a short video as your Facebook cover photo or even multiple photos as a slideshow.

6. News Feeds for Pages

When you are navigating Facebook as your business Page, you can now curate and follow a dedicated News Feed that is created only for your Page. This feature allows you to engage with and follow other businesses and trends within your industry. It’s a whole new way to leverage Facebook for professional development and the latest industry trends. Additionally, your Page News Feed will suggest new follows for you based on the nature of your business and audience. It’s like its own built-in, done-for-you intuitive networking.
